Our Commitment to the Environment

At Targray, we believe in the importance of reducing our ecological footprint and living a greener life.

We feel even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. We want to work together, with all of our employees around the world, to find practical solutions for a healthy planet.

Environmental Committee

Targray has an employee-led and company-sponsored Environmental Committee which organizes many corporate initiatives aimed at:

• Reducing our overall energy consumption.
• Minimizing our environmental footprint.
• And promoting awareness and education of environmental issues.

Each year, the Environmental Committee organizes a company-wide Green Week, in honor of World Environmental Day. Various activities are planned throughout the week for employees at our head office to participate in, such as:

A local park clean-up. Environmental jeopardy game. Lunch & Learn sessions. A tree planting ceremony. And a recycling competition amongst employees.

Other initiatives implemented by the Environmental Committee include:

• Removing paper coffee cups from our bistro.
• A composting service.
• Environmentally-friendly cleaning products.
• Energy conscious lighting solutions.
• Energy Star compliant appliances and vending machines.
• An electronics and battery drop off location on site (in our warehouse) so employees can properly dispose of hazardous items before they are sent to landfill.
• Collecting old CD’s and DVD’s for recycling.
• Temperature controls throughout the building which lowers the thermostat during off hours.

We continue to search for more ways to reduce our ecological footprint and live sustainably so that our children and future generations will inherit a healthy planet.

Sony Green Partner Program

Targray Czech Republic s.r.o. has successfully established an environmental management system that has met the stringent requirements of the Sony Green Partner Program. The puspose of the system is:

• To prevent potential dangerous substances from being used in electronic products.
• To comply with related laws and regulations.
• To reduce the influence of those substances upon the ecosystem.
• To contribute to the preservation of the global environment.

Even though Sony’s requirements were limited to a certain number of products and packaging, Targray has implemented the environmental management system over its entire product range.
