Community Service
Making a Difference in Our Communities around the World
At Targray, we believe strongly in giving back to the Communities in which we work and live. This is a fundamental element of our company culture. We have an employee-led and company-subsidized Charity Committee which organizes many charitable events throughout the year and around the world. A new project our Charity Committee is evaluating this year involves opening a private school for children in an underprivileged, rural village in India. The school will be wholly subsidized through fundraising efforts by the Targray Charity Committee and will provide hundreds of children with an opportunity to receive a proper education as well as a nutritious breakfast and lunch each school day. |

The Charity Committee hosts fundraising activities throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for our chosen Charities. Examples of such fundraisers include our Texas Holdem’ Poker Tournament, our annual Holiday Toy Drop and our Halloween Dare to Wear event.
Charitable Projects Targray is actively supporting:

Club des Petits Dejeuners
The Quebec Breakfast Club opened its doors in 1994 at the Lionel-Groulx elementary school, located in an underprivileged Montreal neighborhood. The Club's founder, Daniel Germain, wished to offer all the children the chance to have a nutritious breakfast before going to class.
A Targray employee (and Charity Committee member) currently sits on the board of the newly created West Island Chapter of this Organization. Targray has taken initiatives alongside other companies in our local community to implement this breakfast program in our local West Island schools for children in need.

Literacy Unlimited
Literacy Unlimited is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of literacy. Its primary program is a one-on-one tutoring program that matches trained volunteer tutors with students, to help them meet their literacy goals.
Targray is a sponsor for Literacy Unlimited, providing funds to enable the organization to continue with their reading programs for adults and teenagers in our local communities.

West Island Mission
Established in February 2005, West Island Mission provides food assistance and other related aid to the less fortunate living in the West Island of Montreal.
Targray has been a supporter of the West Island Mission since its launch in 2005.

West Island Women's Shelter
West Island Women's Shelter is a non-profit organization that has been in existence for 30 years. Their mission is to help women and children who are victims of conjugal violence by offering the following services:
- 24/7 crisis line,
- secure temporary shelter,
- support and accompaniment,
- specialized services for children,
- summer camps for children,
- and external services for women.
They also provide individual and group counseling and prevention awareness in the community.
Since 2008, Targray has held its annual Toy Drop event, which gathers new toys from the local community in collaboration with a local radio station. The gifts are then presented to the West Island of Montreal’s Women’s Shelter and distributed to the children who have been victims of conjugal violence. Targray is proud to hold this event and happy to be able to make a difference in the children’s lives.

KIVA
Kiva's mission is to connect people worldwide through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.
Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs around the globe.
Targray – through its Charity Committee - has loaned start-up capital or operational funds to 20 entrepreneurs so far through the KIVA Organization. Since releasing our first loan in February 2009, we have already begun to receive payment returns from these entrepreneurs thereby continuing the cycle of lending and helping entrepreneurs in developing countries turn their dreams into successful ventures.

The CURE Foundation
CURE is a national foundation that funds basic and clinical research for breast cancer. Their mission is to work in tandem with women and men, health professionals, other foundations and Canadian teaching hospitals to improve breast cancer outcomes for those affected. The foundation will support researchers, laboratories; projects and equipment which can help realize these goals.
As cancer has touched almost all of our lives in some form or another, participating in The CURE’s National Denim Day is a Targray tradition that will be encouraged annually - always aiming to beat our previous year’s donations!

La Corde
La Corde is a youth center in Pierrefonds/Roxboro that is part of the greater Montreal “Jeunesse sans Limite” non-profit organization. It is an organization that feeds 40 children breakfast and lunch daily, as well as providing summer camps and activities for them. They also open their doors to all community children that need a safe place to go after school. La Corde helps kids from over 60 nations, who now live in the largest welfare housing project in Canada. Since 2010, Targray has been providing donations as well as volunteers to help with their youth center activities and fundraisers.
To date, Targray has donated a new building sign (as seen on the left), furniture, desks, laptops, desktops, food and clothing as well as gifts at Christmas time. Targray’s employees have also been giving their time to help all 300 local area children with back to school Back-Pack distribution in August and their food basket and toy distribution at Christmas time. We are proud to be able to help this local youth center knowing that our contributions and donations are truly appreciated, not only by the managers of the youth center, but from the kids too. We look forward to continuing to help La Corde in the future.

The West Island Assistance Fund
"Dare to Wear Challenge" (at Halloween)
Our Dare to Wear Challenge is a fun way to get employees to participate in raising funds for another important cause – The West Island Assistance Fund, which provides food baskets and discounted clothing and articles for the less fortunate within the West Island of Montreal. All Targray employees vote for 3 co-workers who they want dressed up in an outrageous costume (as selected by the Charity Committee) and then the rest of the employees must raise money in order to see the voted targets dressed up. Each year on Halloween, almost all of Targray’s head office team can be found in some of the most interesting costumes! This event is always very successful and creates lots of laughter, all while helping out our neighbors in the community at the same time.
Outside of the above organizations, Targray holds many fundraising events throughout the year where it raises funds for various charities while involving all of its employees to participate in the events and have fun! These events are developed and organized by employees and our employee-led Charity Committee. Targray Volunteering PolicyTargray encourages employees to spend 2 half days per year on company-paid time to volunteer for worthy causes in their local communities. Our goal is to help make the world a better place, and one of the best ways to do this is to volunteer our time and energy to charities in our communities. |
