Philadelphia, PA – Targray and The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) announce the renewal of their Master Distribution Agreement that allows Targray to be the exclusive distributor of Dow’s ENLIGHT™ Polyolefin Encapsulant Films. This innovative, high performance film can enhance efficiencies in photovoltaic (PV) module production and lead to lower conversion costs with potentially shorter lamination cycle times — without sacrificing adhesion performance or material stability during lamination. Targray is a global supplier of raw materials and cutting-edge products — including Solar Glass, Solar Encapsulant, Laminator Diaphragm, PV Tabbing and Bus Ribbon, Potting and Sealing Adhesives, Frames, and PV Recycling—to solar module manufacturers in the PV industry.

Targray is a leading supplier of materials to the growing photovoltaic industry,“ says Neil Carr, Group Vice President and Business Director, Dow Packaging and Converting. “The combination of our technology and their market knowledge should lead to profitable growth for both firms. We are quite pleased with this relationship.” Targray has been the exclusive distributor for a number of Dow products since 1997.

Dow is dedicated to finding technologies that convert solar energy into useful electricity,” said Dan Murray, Vice-President at Targray Technology. “Their leading-edge products, coupled with this focus on delivering sustainable solutions to address some of the world’s most critical challenges – including the need for clean energy, make them a valued partner. We’re very pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with the addition of the ENLIGHT™ Polyolefin Encapsulant films to our commercial product portfolio.”

More about Dow’s ENLIGHT™ Polyolefin Encapsulant
Suited for encapsulation of c-Si and thin film photovoltaic modules, ENLIGHT™ Polyolefin Encapsulant films from Dow offer greater module stability and improved electrical performance versus traditional encapsulants—such as EVA-based products—which can improve the reliability and extend the service life of PV modules. A low Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) combined with High Resistivity, excellent UV stability and no acetic acid generation allows modules to experience minimum output efficiency loss as a result of long term exposure to heat, moisture and UV light. The new encapsulant films are listed with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as “Recognized Components.”

The outcome of several years of real world field testing with ENLIGHT™ Polyolefin Encapsulant Films at leading module manufacturers worldwide has been overwhelmingly positive and clearly demonstrates the customer’s ability to realize the performance advantages of this material over other industry standard encapsulants” said Sherri Barnes, Solar Product Manager at Targray Technology. “The addition of ENLIGHT™ Polyolefin Encapsulant Films to our commercial product portfolio allows Targray to continue our commitment to provide high quality, value creating materials that help customers optimize their manufacturing processes and improve their product performance. We are very excited about the level of activity this product has generated with our customers since its commercial launch at PVSEC 2010”.
