About This Product

The lentil (Lens Culinaris) is a type of pulse named after its distinct, characteristic lens shape. Boasting a range of nutritional benefits and culinary applications, lentils are among the most widely grown and consumed pulses in the world. Lentil varieties include yellow, red-orange, brown, green and black. Red, yellow and white lentil types are typically skinned in a process referred to as ‘decortication’.

Dried lentils suppliers provide the food come in various sizes and formats. They can be sold with or without the skins, whole or split.

Lentil Sustainability

Lentils, like many other legumes, are critical to sustainable farming systems. Planted as a cover crop after other crops are harvested, they help prevent soil erosion. Moreover, because of their ‘nitrogen-capturing’ roots, legumes can be planted to serve as a fertilizing agent.

Estimates suggest the production of lentils releases twenty times less greenhouse gases (GHG) than beef production.
