What is a solar PV module?

The solar PV (photovoltaics) module – often referred to as a solar panel – is the basic building block for a solar electric power generation system. Each solar module contains an assembly of PV cells mounted in a framework for installation. Modules are rated by their DC power output, and typically range between 100 and 365 Watts (W).

How are solar PV modules made?

Solar PV modules are made by connecting together photovoltaic (PV) cells, also known as solar cells. They are manufactured from semiconductor materials like crystalline silicon.

What is solar PV module efficiency?

Solar PV module efficiency is the measure that identifies how much of the sun’s energy a module can convert into usable electricity. For example, a module with 10% efficiency can convert 10% of the sunshine it absorbs into electricity. Commercial solar modules today can reach efficiencies in excess of 24%, but typically range between 15 and 20 percent.

Targray Expands Solar Supply Chain Finance Program

the Solar Division has announced the expansion of its solar supply chain finance (SCF) program for PV module manufacturers, project developers, distributors, installers and contractors.

Offered in partnership with Targray Group’s global banking partners, the solar supply chain finance program is designed to create a win-win situation for transacting parties. It enables buyers to optimize working capital through extended payment terms, while helping their suppliers benefit from additional cash flow through accelerated payment.

Initially developed to meet the needs of PV manufacturing customers in the mid-2000s, Targray’s Solar supply chain finance program is now being expanded to support the requirements of solar industry participants across a broader segment of the supply chain.
